The Forum Rules

1. No flaming others. If someone's opinion differs from yours, don't berate them about it. No namecalling. Everyone is entitled to their opinion - you're free to disagree but you may NOT get personal.

2. Keep the language clean. There is no tolerance for racial slurs. It's okay if you curse, but keep it to a minimum(aka 1 fuck per post). Quotations are exempt from this rule. Also, some people prefer if you censor it, like **** or s***. Of course, the censors are not necessary.

Corollary: After the Great Censor Debate of August 3rd, it has been agreed upon that the short-lived censors shall be vanquished from the coding of the forums, to be replaced by a code of honor. Swearing shall be allowed in small quantities barring direct quotations and Roleplaying. However, as a nod towards classy sarcasm, all racial slurs shall now be given a new name: Bullshakespeare

3. Read the thread before you comment. Please don't ask a question that has already been answered or "double post". It's fine if you're voicing your agreement with someone, but don't say exactly the same thing.

4. Posts must be in plain, understandable English. That means using things like punctuation and good spelling (if you doubt your English skills, you should run your posts through a spell-checker first so we can all understand what you mean). If you want to speak in 1337, at least translate for everyone else in plain English. Please do not stretch the posts with long strings of letters or numbers. Stretching posts will be deleted and a warning given.

5. Any message that you post, only post it once, in one forum. Posting more than once is a waste of everyone's time and the forum's resources. Any post that breaks this rule will be deleted in all topics (except the first one).

6. Don't spam the boards. This isn't a chat room, please don't treat it as such. Reviving old threads is OK, so long as you have something meaningful to add to the conversation.

If you spam the boards, you will be given a warning.

7. Signatures can be, at max, 500 pixels wide. Any wider than this stretches the posts - the overlarge image(s) will be removed and a PM sent to the user. Avatars can only be 100 x 100 pixels. If yours is too large, it will be removed.

Also, any images in posts that stretch the page will be replaced with a link to the image. Repeat offenders will be given a warning.

8. No posts about posts. That means no posts about how many posts you have, what kind of posts you have, etc. These existing topics will be locked and deleted. And don't post just to get numbers by your name. Quality is more important than quantity, you know. (See Rule 11, below)

9. No emoticon sentences. Posting them will count as spam. These will be deleted going forward. Please limit use of punctuation (?, !) and smilies to no more than three per post.

If your entire post consists of just emoticons, your post will be deleted and you will receive a warning.

10. Stay on topic. If you don't have anything to say that deals with the post at hand, DON'T POST.

11. No double-posting - that's what the "edit" button is for. The only thread you may double-post in is your own sprite or art thread, but that's it. Don't "bump" (posting "bump" as your message, for example) just to get a topic pushed up higher in the rankings. You may double-post in your own contest thread if you're adding new information or judging.

12. Posts should be more than one or two words long. Please don't "me too" - post ONLY if you have something meaningful to add to the conversation.

13. Only moderators are allowed to post off-topic in order to correct a problem. That means that members shouldn't post to say things like "this post is getting spammy" because that creates even more spam with members replying with "I agree, it's spammy" and "yeah, we should be on topic". Going forward, any posts made by members to this effect will be regarded as spam. Members are to post on-topic comments or not post at all.

If you wish to do something about a spammy post/thread, PM a global moderator who visits that section of the forums.

To clarify this further, members may not correct other members at all. Even if your post contains something regarding the post at hand, you aren't allowed to tack on a correction.

14. Members are not to spam the PM boxes of other members. This includes things like chain letters, invitations to join other message boards, etc. If you wish to publicize your own forums, place a link in "Shameless Plugs" and in your signature.

15. One activated account per person. That means no "sockpuppets" or bogus accounts.

16. Do not ask to become a moderator/admin. If there is a need for new moderators, a specific thread will be set up where you can apply for the position and list any qualifications you have. If there is no such thread open, that means there is no need for additional mods.

17. ROMs of legitimate games are illegal. Some people say that it's okay if you own the actual game, and there hasn't been a crack down on ROM sites, but they are still illegal. Posting ROMs of hacks and bootleg games is okay.

18. Read the sticky threads before you ask a mod/admin questions directly. Only ask if you are still unsure about something.

19. Respect all mods and admins.

-----------------
For the most part, we're going with the "three strikes" rule – each time you break a rule, you will receive a warning. Warnings may be removed after following the rules for a month straight. Three warnings will lead to suspension/ban based on the severity of the infractions.

Any member who is suspended from the forums may not return until their suspension is up. A suspended member who creates a second account and posts on the forums will be banned. Banned members may not return at all - IP bans may be implemented if necessary.

For some examples of warnings that have been given out for breaking forum rules, read through the Warnings Thread (in the Moderator Board).

-----------------
Remember that this forum is for the enjoyment of all members. Follow the rules, keep your posts on-topic, and remember to respect all members, especially the mods and admins. Any suggestions for new sections or rules should go under the TRsRockin Forums section.
-----------------

Sincerely, The TRsRockin Forum Admins

A note on Avatars:

I've decided to enable off-site avatars.
This means that you can now link to an avatar in a Photobucket/ImageShack account rather than being restricted to the 6KB upload avatar size.

However.

The avatar size MUST be no larger in pixels than 100x100.

There is no way to set the limits on an off-site avatar, so I'm trusting you to do this on your own.

A few pixels larger shouldn't be an issue, but if you make your avatar something huge (500px x 500px, for example), I will issue you a warning. Just use common sense. Keep it as close to 100 x 100 as possible. If you see an avatar that stretches the page, report it to a mod/admin. I can go in and remove your avatar manually from the Admin panel, but I'd rather you just link to one within the size limits.

Hacks are okay. ROMs of bootleg games are okay. ROMs of official games and emulators are not.

Quote the official TOS for Forumer:

Strictly Prohibited Content:
- Warez / Piracy / Hacking / Viruses, or illegal mp3's

Okay, recently its come to my attention that the thread for Sprite Contest rules was deleted, so I'm gonna post them here. Rose, if I forget any tell me.

In order to have a Sprite Contest, you must first do these things:
1) What is the Sprite Contest going to be about?
2) Who will judge?
3) What is the cut-off date/entree?

Then you PM all the stuff to a mod, (the title of your contest being the title of the PM and in the PM itself) and if you have everything the way its supposed to be, the Mod will sticky it in the Sprite Contests forum for you.

<<; I forgot something, didn't I?

There are kids on this forum.

Since it has come to my attention that this rule is no longer being actively enforced, I have activated the forum's word censor to deal with it.

Since it has come to my attention that the rules really needed to be updated, I have done so.

The swear filter has also been shut off. We ain't kids anymore after all.

*THIS MESSAGE HAS BEEN DEEMED TO BE REDUNDANT UNDER THE COROLLARY OF AUGUST 3RD*

Since there are still some younger members on this site, and since I personally feel that we don't need to see such profanity being thrown around like spare change, I am implementing a "babysitter censor" on two specific words and their offshoots. This will allow the main point to get across in somebody's argument, but it will also be less of a shock for any wandering eyes that happen to look upon a profane message...

...that and I just wanted to add some extra pizazz to people's posts... =D
